The expansion of inequality harms the development of children and teenagers in our country. We feel that the best way of jointly constructing a fairer society is by ensuring the well-being of our youth.<\/p>\n

This is what motivated us to bring experts from different areas together, in order to analyze data, discuss hypotheses, suggest paths, and thus encourage Governments, institutions, and the general public to prioritize investment in early childhood.<\/p>\n

The first edition of the forum was held in September 2018, in the Maksoud Plaza Theatre (S\u00e3o Paulo), with the technical support of the PENSI Institute and curated by the Veja and Sa\u00fade magazines. The event had two main axes. In one of these axes, of a more conjunctural kind, representatives of candidates standing for President of Brazil showcase their proposals regarding childhood and adolescence. In the other stream, more structural, experts discussed the main challenges of the area. In this report, we have brought together the presentations made on the occasion, involving issues like Government policies for childhood, infant mortality and its national discrepancies, child obesity, and the impact that violence has had on children and teenagers.<\/p>\n

The 2nd Edition of the Forum saw the start of the path trailed by FJLES in its three priority themes for the decade, with the production of White Papers on immunizations, mental health, and food safety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Led by Natalia Cuminale, a journalist specialized in health matters, this forum brought together authorities from these three areas. Juarez Cunha, a pediatrician and the President of the Brazilian Immunization Society (SBIm) and Renato Kfouri, a pediatrician and President of the Immunizations Department of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (SBP). Christian Kieling, psychiatrist and teacher at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and Jair Mari, a psychiatrist and the head of the Psychiatry and Psychology Department at UNIFESP, Mauro Fisberg, pediatrician, nutrologist and coordinator of the Center of Excellence in Nutrition and Eating Disorders of the PENSI Institute, Maria Paula de Albuquerque \u2013 nutrologist and clinical director of CREN\/UNIFESP, Flavia Mori Sarti, economist, nutrologist, and Associate Teacher of EACH-USP.<\/p>\n

Held fully online, the 3rd edition had the core theme of \u2018Violence and cruelty against children and teenagers \u2013 the role of prevention\u2019, and had thematic tables based on the Brazilian context of the cases, the national perception about this type of cruelty and the strategies for tackling and preventing such abuse. The Brazilian Forum on Public Safety, the \u2018Galo da Manh\u00e3\u2019 Institute and the Brazilian Coalition for the End of Violence against Children and Teenagers were partners in this event.<\/p>\n
